So you installed Ubuntu, and the first time you boot it the OS says “unknown filesystem” and displays a grub rescue prompt.
Well, grub seems to be the problem here. For some reason, it can’t see the the partitions located closer to the end of the disk surface, and gives out this error. So reinstall Ubuntu, but this time use the first partition for it, and use the last for swap.
