The annoying light coming out of your audio jack or separate connector is optical TOSlink audio.
Unfortunately, you cannot turn it off, even if you disable the onboard audio device. So the only way to get rid of is cover with a piece of tape or purchase a silicone 3.5mm dust cover, if your device has a combined stereo-optical out.
