I decided to update the laptop with a fresh Windows 7 install with all updates upto to March this year. Let’s see how long will it take to boot from the same SSD drive. Well, 18 seconds. Apparently in Microsoft, updates are meant to decrease performance. Talking about Microsoft, some boasted boot speeds of their Windows 8. Well, starting with 8 Windows doesn’t fully unload anymore. So to make real boot up measurements, first turn off the computer holding shift while you press the shutdown icon, and only then measure the boot speed.
