Whenever you try to select which field upgrade to activate, the game resets the counter, putting the field upgrade into cooldown. This can also remove your lethal or tactical equipment since the same buttons are used for both. For example, selecting War Cry might leave the interface stuck on your HUD, making gameplay frustrating.
The culprit behind this issue appears to be the Gear Head perk. This perk provides two charges of the same field upgrade, but the game seems to glitch, struggling to determine which upgrade to apply the extra charge to.
How to Work Around the Glitch
You have two options:
Unequip the Gear Head Perk – This might solve the glitch, but it significantly increases the field upgrade cooldown time, making it a tedious process.
Use Specific Field Upgrades – Some field upgrades seem to work fine despite the bug. Signal Lure and Acoustic Amp are viable options. Personally, I recommend using the Acoustic Amp.
Best Loadout for Completing the Challenge
If you’re struggling with field upgrade placement issues, you can try this setup:
Equip Trophy System or Scrambler as your first upgrade.
Use Spring Mine as your second upgrade.
Get kills using the Spring Mine, as these also count toward completion.
